ITINERARY

Morning Flight from Johannesburg to the Lower Zambezi National Park via Lusaka.

This morning we will depart Johannesburg’s OR Tambo Intl. Airport as we set our course for Lusaka. From here we will take a short flight to the Jeki Airstrip at Lower Zambezi National Park. A short road transfer to the National Park offices and from there, a very enjoyable boat ride on the mighty Zambezi to our accommodation for the next 4 nights, Chiawa Camp. Chiawa boasts 8 luxurious rooms that line the banks of the river as well as two hides, from where one is able to enjoy viewing and photographing the mammals and birds which stay in close proximity to the camp, between activities

This afternoon, following check-in and lunch, we will depart on our first afternoon safari in this very remote part of the Zambezi Valley.

Three full days at Chiawa in the Lower Zambezi National Park.

Our first 3 full days will be spent at Chiawa. One of the big attractions to this award-winning safari lodge is its unbelievably relaxed leopard population. These cats are completely oblivious to the safari vehicles and are seen daily as they go about life in the bush.

During our daily activities, our local guide will keep his eyes and ears open for any signs of these otherwise elusive cats. The vehicle traffic in these areas is generally quite low and with us making use of private safari vehicles, we are able to spend as much time out in the field as possible.

Transfer from Chiawa Camp to Old Mondoro

This morning, following our morning activity, we will be transferred to our final stop on this unforgettable photo safari. We will enjoy 4 nights at the authentic bush camp, Old Mondoro, located about 10 kilometers downstream from Chiawa Camp.

Three full days at Old Mondoro.

This remote small camp which oozes authentic African bush experience, offers a variety of activities. We will combine our outings with these varied activities to give us the most well-rounded photo safari experience. These will include, walking safaris, day and night game drives and boat safaris.

The name, Old Mondoro means old lion. The area in which the Old Mondoro and its sister camp is situated, lies within the home ranges of 3 large lion prides. These big cats are very well habituated to the safari vehicles and this makes for some of the most incredible and up-close photo opportunities.

Departure Day

Sadly, the day has arrived where we need to say goodbye to this wildlife Eden. Following a final mornings activity and breakfast, we will return to Jeki Airstrip from where we will fly back to Lusaka and onwards to Johannesburg.

From the team at Nelis Wolmarans Wildlife & Photo Safaris, we thank you for your participation in this memorable safari. We wish you a pleasant journey to your final destination and do hope that we can be off service to you again on your next African safari adventure.
