Project Description
BEST OF GRAUER’S GORILLAS
PHOTO SAFARI
INTRODUCTION
Our Best of Grauer’s Gorilla photo safari kicks off in the Rwandan capital, Kigali from where we will travel to the lakeside town of Bukavu, located in South Kivu District of the Democratic Republic of Congo. This will be our base from where we will travel each day to the world renowned, 6000 km2 Kahuzi-Biéga National Park. This beautiful park is home to the critically endangered Grauer’s Gorillas, a sub-species of Eastern Gorilla and are the largest primate species on earth.
We will also allocate a full day to a very special project, the Lwiro Primate Rehabilitation Centre, home to primates who were rescued from the illegal pet trade and given a second chance at life. Lwiro is home to more than 100 chimpanzees of all ages and also a number of smaller primate species.
